Jane's Notes: The Wall of Birds was originally envisioned by former Cornell Lab director Dr. John "Fitz" Fitzpatrick, who spent two decades searching for an artist foolish enough to embrace such a challenge. Fitz also happens to be an accomplished artist himself and grew up next door to legendary painter Francis Lee Jaques. He studied flycatchers for his PhD dissertation, so it was only natural for Fitz to paint the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher on the wall. He did a wonderful job! They’re striking birds in color and morphology, with pale-edged flight feathers and a sweet little crest. I created this study for Fitz to use as a template, the only version of the flycatcher in my hand.

Each study comes with a certificate of authenticity. Please allow six weeks for custom matting and delivery. All sales final.
