Jane’s Notes: The Brown Thrasher is a ground-dwelling bird with a fierce reputation. They won’t hesitate to assault interlopers wandering too close to their nest—humans included. I wanted to create a fierce bird weighing an attack: alert, with a dead-eye stare and strong posture and presence. It’s planted in Georgia, where it is celebrated as the state bird.
