Jane's Notes: I love magpies and I love geese, so this bird was always destined to be one of my favorites. With its black and white coloring, the Magpie Goose is a graphic bird, and its size makes it a pleasing compositional anchor in Australia. I was relieved when my scientific advisor, Jessie Barry, only had a single note: “Drop the nostril!”
